Michael Niyitegeka is an ICDL Africa Accreditation Consultant for Uganda. He is an expert in Leadership Development, and Business Technology Strategy. He holds an MBA from MsM/ESAMI Business School and is a Franklin Covey Certified Facilitator.
He possesses 17 years of working experience in both the private and public sectors. Michael worked with Makerere University for 12 years in varied capacities as a researcher, trainer and head of Corporate Relations. He also worked with coffee exporting firm managing supply side operations in western Uganda.
He has extensive consulting experience with government, private, regional and international institutions such as Higher Education Institutions in Uganda, Private Sector Federation of Rwanda, State University of Zanzibar, National IT Authority of Uganda, British Council Uganda, and ICT Policy Center for Eastern and Southern Africa (CIPESA) among others.
Michael is an Adjunct Lecturer with the ESAMI Business School and a Board member of the ICT Association of Uganda, Uganda Youth Forum and AIESEC Uganda. Michael is a member of the ICT Technical Working Group of the Presidential Investor Round Table. He is a member of several technology innovation review panels both locally and internationally. He is a Rotarian and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of technology business leaders.
Michael Green: Course Technical Advisor
After graduating from Nottingham University, Michael spent two years working in the British Parliament, as a researcher and press officer to a Government Minister. During this time he also helped to run a program placing interns with Members of Parliament. Following the 1997 general election, Accenture recruited him as a strategy consultant to work with their pharmaceutical and high-tech clients.
After two and a half years, Michael then took a year’s leave of absence to work on a peace and reconciliation project, based in Beirut, but traveling throughout the Middle East. Returning to the UK, he worked with a financial services company before becoming the commercial director for a software outsourcing company based in Moldova. During this time he also contributed to and ran business seminars in China, Kazakhstan and Israel.
Working in partnership with his brother Mark, he then developed a residential property portfolio and founded a real-estate development company called Jackson-Green, which has just about survived the global property crash.
For the last five years he has also worked with Youth With a Mission (YWAM), where his responsibilities include developing the YWAM Business Institute and providing leadership to one of the major YWAM training campuses.
Michael is married to Jessica and has three children, Elijah, Apollos and Anastasia, who he loves spending time with, but he also enjoys playing rugby with Samoans, competing in triathlons, and mountain biking with rhinos.
Pete Sampey: Course Technical Advisor
Pete is married to Karen and has five amazing children. He has a business career of more than 25 years, running two different businesses and consulting internationally. Firstly in construction and property development turning to Change Management and Information Technology in the late 1990’s.
Pete has developed numerous transformation strategies balancing the learning, communication and leadership drivers to deliver significant results for his clients. Programs have included implementing multinational ERP systems, moving organizational units off shore, outsourcing services, creating competitive advantage through the introduction of new systems and ways of working, leading complex union engagements and deploying multi-lingual training initiatives. He has worked extensively in FTSE 100 companies delivering projects in the Banking, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, Media and Government sectors.
Pete has a heart and passion for the development of people and now gives the majority of his time to serve with Youth With A Mission (YWAM).
Titus Ochieng: Facilitator & Leadership Coach
Titus Ochieng is a Lecturer at the International Health Sciences University. He attained Masters’ Degree in Management and Development. He brings over 14 years professional experience, with coaching, training and human development. He attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Diploma in Education. Among over forty other certifications, he has the experience and accreditation to deliver leadership development training, mentoring and coaching.He previously served as Learning and Development Advisor for International Medical Group. In the past six years alone, in addition to lecturing and supervising students’ academic research, he has built strong ties with top leaders in both the private and public sectors being part of the aspirations sought after in many organizations in the East African region.
Titus is a solution-focused Mentor, Educator and Trainer with natural capabilities for developing others and systems. Specifically training, Leadership & Management development and Policy work. In broad interdisciplinary scope with several sectors in Uganda, he has grown in skills and experience permitting him to be a part of complex human systems.
To this assignment of championing leaders for a multi sectorial response to enduring problems, he brings in skills in conceptual thinking, translating ideas into action and clarifying pathways to leader effectiveness for top leaders, management practitioners and aspiring leaders applying deep multi-layered delivery and engagement techniques to maximize mental impressions for positive impacts.
Karl Pritchard; Course Facilitator & Advisor
Karl is an Agile Project Manager and coach working for YWAM in Harpenden, UK. He is passionate about creating, coaching and leading high performance development teams. His software career started when he joined
Thorn EMI as a Trainee Programmer working on embedded ePOS systems and software. He has held a number of technical and managerial positions over the years, including Principal Engineer and Agile Project Manager/Coach.
He has worked in Development for more than 30 years, where he has been responsible for delivering software and hardware in leading technology companies such as Xerox and Intel. Among many highlights, Karl's is particularly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Intel to reduce their product release cycle from 3 months to only 2 weeks, with potentially shippable releases to clients on a daily basis.
He has broad and deep experience in various domains including Real-Time and Embedded Software Development in Cryptography, Data Compression, Document Management, User
Interface, Internationalization and Localization, Process Control, Data Acquisition, and Point Of Sales.
Karl enjoy coaching teams in Lean and Agile techniques particularly Scrum, Lean, Kanban and XP practices including. He doesn't consider himself a coder but is able to work alongside clients using in C++, C, Java, BASIC, and Pascal and is perfectly happy working in Assembly languages and/or machine code.
He holds a number of professional certifications including Certified Scrum Master, Certified Scrum Product Owner and Xerox Design for Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
Among other things, Karl enjoys cycling, running and hill walking, especially in sub-zero temperatures. He is also studying Android development for fun and aims to have his own apps on the App Store by the end of the year.
With a background in clinical care, academic cancer center leadership, and health policy development, Catherine was founding Executive Director of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), the entity currently setting cancer treatment guidelines worldwide. Subsequently, Catherine served as faculty and cancer program director at the Medical University of South Carolina. Catherine later was Executive Vice President / Chief Public Health Officer for the American Diabetes Association (ADA), where she led
ADA’s focus on the Preventive Health Partnership, a joint initiative with the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association. She recently led the Health Sector Advisory Council (HSAC) at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Catherine has served on boards of many national organizations, including founding President of the American College of Oncology Administrators, and the Association of Community Cancer Centers. She recently chaired the board of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS). For ten years, Catherine led a consulting practice in cancer and facility program planning, assisting academic medical centers and health systems establish successful cancer programs. She’s held numerous grants and managed contracts with the Institute of Medicine, the National Cancer Institute, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her doctoral research in public health focused on establishing national cancer registries and disease reporting.
David Sevier; Facilitator & Course Advisor
David Sevier works internationally to mentor leaders, pioneer programs and develop creative health solutions in both the public and private sectors. During a successful career in the US Navy, David developed landmark health policy for the Secretary of Defense and the US Congress. In 1991, David established and directed the Defense Health Resources Study Center at the Naval Postgraduate School where he led development for the US military's healthcare system (TRICARE), now providing healthcare services for over 12 million individuals worldwide, with a budget of over $35 billion.
Following his Navy career, David established and led a US State Department program working at highest levels with developing nations to effectively manage health care across public and private sectors. He subsequently spent four years as international program director for Mercy Ships, leading their European headquarters. David then established the US Medicine Institute, a “think tank” working to transform US federal health policy. From 2007 - 2009, David directed a Commission created to develop a twenty – year health strategy for the US Department of Veterans Affairs. David works and consults internationally, teaches at Duke University, and explores new paradigms in health services delivery and policy development.
John Bosco Alege; Facilitator
John Bosco Alege is a Public Health Specialist and has a long term career goal of improving community health through strengthening and improving health systems. His specific career interests include; primary health care; health systems strengthening; social determinants of health; health information systems (data-use) for evidence-based decision making; evaluating health interventions and health programming in conflict and complex emergencies.
John is an experienced results oriented health program manager with solid and progressive 10 years in managing programs and projects in multi-agency environments, with good understanding of donor rules and regulations; he managed Cooperative Agreements, Contracts and Grants with huge funding portfolio with country experiences from; Uganda, Kenya, Republic of Sudan and Republic of South Sudan. Study, work and travel experiences in the following countries: Uganda, Kenya, Republic of Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Mozambique and United Kingdom. Finally, John has excellent writing and presentation skills, self- driven and results oriented professional.
Currently, John lectures the following Public Health Courses at International Health Sciences University (IHSU)-Kampala, Uganda; Primary Health Care, Health Care Policy and Planning and, Health in Conflict and Complex Emergencies as well as coordinating and supervising health sciences research. Academic qualifications; Master of Science in Public Health (MPH) from International Health Sciences University, Kampala, Uganda (2013). Master of Science in Development and Planning, University College London, University of London-United Kingdom (2006); with an Undergraduate background in Community Health & Development.
Jamie MacAlister; Facilitator
Jamie is the Director for School of Business and Applied Technology at the international Health Sciences University (IHSU) and a former member of the Faculty at Ashridge Business School in Berkhamsted, with a specialization in “risk in strategy”. He is an experienced commercial manager, strategist, facilitator and executive coach, having previously been Commercial Director at Ashridge with a key part to play in a significant change program.
Previously, Jamie was a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and held management roles with Procter & Gamble, Comco (a Swiss technology start-up) and RM (the leading UK
education IT provider). He has been a coach and facilitator of management teams as a management consultant for nearly 20 years. In the health sector, he has had a business development role over a 2 year period with one of his clients who was a Management Information Systems supplier to UK hospital trusts. He has initiated and is a non-executive director on two social enterprises, and through a partnership between his local church and a Ugandan church over ten years, has supported the construction and ongoing running of a school in Katwe, Kampala.
Jamie has an MA Engineering from Cambridge University and MBA (Honours) from Wharton Business School. He is also an Associate Member of the Market Research Society, an experienced and part-qualified management accountant and is an Ashridge-trained and experienced executive coach.
Angella Namwanie Kawoya; Facilitator
Angella is a Finance and Accounting Professional, Solution-Focused Coach and Business Mentor. Angella is currently a lecturer of Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Management at the International Health Sciences University. For more than 15yeears I have been able to support students and institutions in Uganda across different environments to understand and use Finance and Accounting for their personal and or institutional development.
Angella heads the department of Accounting and Finance at Bugema University from January 2004 to December 2006; reviewed and consulted for various learning institutions in Uganda during their curriculum development on matters pertaining to their finance and accounting course modules.
As a freelance Solution-Focused Coach and Mentor, Angella has worked with various people and institutions including Mulit-National Corporations.
She is a holder of an MBA in Finance, a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Accounting, a PURE Certificate for coaching from Solution Surfers in Switzerland and a Mentoring Certificate from British Council Uganda.
