Where is this program offered?
This program is offered at Clarke International University, Uganda. Situated at Le Palm Building, Level 3 along Tank Hill Road in Muyenga-Kampala, Uganda.
How long is the program?
The Applied ICT & Leadership program is a full-time practical skilling program in software development which runs for a total of Twelve (12) weeks or three (3) months.
Can I apply if I did not study Information Technology (IT) or a related subject?
Yes! This program is a perfect fit for any graduate who seeks practical knowledge and an entry point into the world of software engineering. The qualifying candidate needs no prior knowledge of software development. Our ideal trainee is one who is armed with a passion to solve the world’s biggest problems with the aid of ICTs and computing power, and is ready to learn.
Can I apply if I have no university degree?
Yes! All persons who have received a minimum of a diploma from a legally recognized higher institution of learning around the world are eligible to apply.
The skills and tools learned and utilized throughout this program do not require an applicant to have attained an undergraduate degree.
However, the award attained from this program by any student who does not have an undergraduate degree, is an Advanced Certificate in Applied ICT & Leadership, and not a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied ICT & Leadership.
Is the training Free of charge?
No. With the help of program partners like CM2000 and Youth With A Mission (YWAM), the Applied ICT & Leadership Program has been subsidize to ensue as little financial burden goes to the student in order to open this opportunity up to as many as who need it. Each student is required to pay a total of Uganda shillings, one million seven hundred thousand (UGX 1,700,000/-) only, approximately US $453.
Do I have to pay full tuition fees at the start of the program?
No. Students have an opportunity to pay tuition fees in one lump sum or two installments spread over a two month period as they undertake training, as advised at the time of their admission.
Do you offer scholarships on this program?
No. We do not offer any extra financial assistance on this program beyond the subsidy accorded to all qualifying students by our program partners, at the moment.
Will I receive an award at the end of the program?
Yes! Every student who successfully completes the training program and fulfills all obligations as stated in their admission letter is eligible for either a Postgraduate Certificate award (for undergraduate degree holders) or an advanced certificate award (for diploma and certificate holders) from Clarke International University which is accredited by the National Council for higher Education under the Ministry of Education and Sports in Uganda.
Do I need to be physically present in Uganda to take this training program?
Yes. You need to be physically and psychologically present in Kampala, Uganda throughout the 12 week program, because sessions and training are not offered remotely.
Do I need a personal computer to take part in the program?
No. It’s not mandatory to carry a personal computer in order to take part in this training program. The program provides some shared facilities for practical work and assignments to students who may not carry personal computers.
However, you are strongly encouraged to acquire a personal computer, if you are able to, as this allows you extra personal study and practice time when you are away from class.
Can I take this training alongside my work and/or other school studies?
This program is offered on full-time basis in order to maximize impact and give every student the best coaching, training, and mentoring experience required to complete the program as a software developer who can work anywhere in the world and is ready to take on new learning of their own.
Therefore your choice of work and other studies should not interfere with the program full-time day schedule, as you are required to attend at least 80% of all class sessions to complete the program.
What is the pass-mark for one to complete the program successfully?
There is no one pass-mark for one to complete the Applied ICT & Leadership Program successfully. Students are assessed for their ability to apply the tools and skills gained in the different study modules through individual and team assignments, internationally recognized tests and certifications as well as a final class project which should be grounded in Human Centered Design principles.
When do they exams happen?
We do not offer exams on this program. Your understanding of the content delivered is assessed through practical applications in various ways.
